Roxy’s Tacos is a high-energy culinary brand located in Downtown San Diego, specializing in authentic street-style tacos with a modern, coastal edge. The project involved the creation of a comprehensive visual identity layer, custom environmental graphics, and a modular packaging system. By utilizing a high-contrast palette of Rose and Jazzberry Jam, the brand establishes an immediate, "graphic punch" that commands attention in a dense urban environment.

The Challenge
The taco industry in San Diego is extremely saturated, with most brands relying on traditional, expected visual tropes. Roxy’s needed an identity that felt culturally rooted yet aggressively modern to appeal to the Downtown demographic. The challenge was to create a cohesive system that could scale from small-format tactile items, like burrito wraps and cups, to large-scale environmental assets like the custom delivery van and digital menu boards.


The Execution
We engineered a script-heavy primary wordmark paired with a modular "Taco Sun" icon to serve as the brand's core anchor. The system is built on a vibrant, five-color palette featuring Yellow Pantone and Sky Blue Crayon accents to ensure a loud, confident presence. To optimize the "Tactile Feedback," we developed an illustrative pattern system—featuring skulls, peppers, and localized "San Diego" motifs—used across packaging and vehicle wraps. The digital menu layers were designed with a strict grid to ensure legibility despite the high-chroma background, balancing "expressive components" with "clean layout" principles.

The Results
The final identity system successfully positioned Roxy’s Tacos as a standout cultural destination in Downtown San Diego. By moving away from generic SaaS-style minimalism and embracing a "loud, confident" aesthetic, the brand built immediate authority and recognition. The modular packaging and environmental systems allowed for a friction-less rollout across all physical touchpoints, resulting in a strong, unified brand perception that resonates with locals and tourists alike.
